Can I make the xtbl editor load referenced tables from somewhere else?

Yeah, sorry I have been a bit behind on this - between my regular work and getting ready to move into a new house in a couple of weeks, I haven't had much time to spend on modding support recently. :-( We have a build of the TFE in testing now that is somewhat better in this respect - it...

Saints Row IV Dynamic Shadows from Car Headlights

Wilson asked me to look into this a bit, and it looks like the vehicle headlights are driven by VFX, and most vehicles seem to use the VEH_XenonHeadlights effect. (This is for SR4, but I don't think this changed all that much from SR3). So, once the SDK gets to the point where you can...

    Saints Row 2 NPC editing

Also, SNPC files were for "story" cutscenes, where we had more memory to devote to characters. We used larger textures on these, so the PEG files for an SNPC_blah are usually significantly larger than those for the regular NPC version. CNPCs were used in "activity" cutscenes, where we couldn't...

    Saints Row 2 NPC editing

Yeah, the geometry for NPCs is prebaked, based on the information in the xtbl files. The cvtf's also get built from the same xtbls, but they only really control some color swapping values. See this thread for more details...

Saints Row 2 How are NPCs clothed/made?

Thank you for providing an awesome image for my avatar.

Saints Row 2 How are NPCs clothed/made?

Unfortunately for SR2, due to issues arising from the original port (specifically, nobody is quite sure where the final version of the code lives), our ability to modify and add features to the actual game code is pretty much zero at the moment. We do have the code for all of our PC asset...

    What does CTS stand for?

CTS files were old even back on SR1. I think they date back to the original Red Faction or earlier. As far as what the letters stand for, it could be objeCTS. CoordinaTeS, CuTScene, or potentially something completely meaningless. At one point in the distant past, many file extensions had...

Are you going to release all of your in-house developer tools?

Jeff and Wilson are coordinating the release, so one of them would be able to give you a much better answer than I would. Sorry! From what I've heard, it shouldn't be a long wait.

Are you going to release all of your in-house developer tools?

It looks like, pending a bit more testing, this (table file editor) will be a go for the initial tools release. Watch this space for more info!

Saints Row 2 How are NPCs clothed/made?

Yeah, I was talking about the mesh files. IIRC, CNPCs were cutscene-only NPCs which had higher-res textures and such, and wouldn't fit in a normal character slot. They could only be loaded during cutscenes, where we repurposed some other memory. As far as SNPC vs. NPC, I'd have to look that...

Saints Row 2 How are NPCs clothed/made?

Hey, guys. I was the main programmer for the NPC construction system back on SR2 (I'll have to talk to Jeff next week about getting verified for a [V] name). It's been a few years, but here's what I remember about how this system worked: The NPCs were all built out of the same basic body...
