Or Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Morrowind, Oblivion..... Bethsoft has been the most supportive of modders for the longest time. They actually plan the public toolsets into the end of their dev cycles. Wish more developers did that.

Hate to break it to you, but that's what sells games these days.

They are already. If they haven't been upgraded to superhero (through their personal missions), they can go down and will poof and go back to the ship if you don't revive them. However, doing their personal missions and making them superheros makes them very hard to kill.

They're indestructible because they are essential to the plot.

Saves can get corrupted for a number of reasons, some of them are Windows OS reasons. It really doesn't matter at this point how, since it is somewhat rare that it happens (has happened to me only once through SR3/4) it would be very difficult to try and find the reason. That said, a corrupted...

From the business side of the industry, that would be corporate suicide. You never want to create products that compete against each other. It costs 10s of millions of dollars to develop and publish a single AAA title, catering to a minority by making a completely separate game means heavy...
