Amazon Smile -- donations to NPOs

Corrodias

Generally Awesome
When shopping from Amazon, you can now use the domain smile.amazon.com. When you first visit it, you choose a charity or NPO (this can be changed later if you want). Then, 0.5 % of any purchases made through smile.amazon.com are contributed to that organization.

Of course, 0.5 % isn't a lot, but it's more than nothing. It can add up.

If you don't have a favorite charity in mind, Amazon recommends five "spotlight charities" that all seem pretty decent. There are a LOT of options, including some surprisingly local stuff.

Disclaimer: I do not believe these count for tax deductions in the US. They're coming from Amazon, not you directly. Still, there's clearly no harm in using Smile versus not using it.
