Are there any guides for adding something to the preload?

Hi and hello, I really really hate to be a bother, but I was wondering if there is a primary guide on adding something to the preload? I have googled, searched this board, and the sr3nexus... but no luck. I really really hate posting a thread like this, but I need the help.

My reason for this is that I want to add more to the weapons
- a new pump action shotgun using the unused bean bag ammo.
- possibly reimplementing the SR2 weapons in the data.
- Behemoth Sword.

I've heard editing the preloader would make the game load up the weapons models properly... but I can't find a guide on this.

I'm curious about this myself. In SR2 it was simply a matter of editing the preload.tbl file in the game's root and adding the static mesh to the list.

I have heard something can be done like this for SR3, but I'm lost on it completely as I've never modded SR2 at all. I was told a board member named Rick knows how, but I was unable to reach him.

Oh, I didn't know he was Gibber, I'm still super new to this community. I have sent him a PM a few days ago, at least I'm fairly sure it went through.

Rick's an active guy in the modding world. Unfortunately for us, he mods a NUMBER of games, so SRTT may not have his main focus.

All that, plus, who knows if he has a family or job? I couldn't even imagine how hard it would be to do what he does for so many games and have any type of time left over.
Then again, he is good. No one's really done what he's done as far as decoding the in-game files for both the Saints Row PC releases, and done so so quickly.

I don't think there's a single tutorial out there that doesn't list "gibbed tools" as a requirement before the beginning.

EDIT: Check out his blog to see the vast number of things he does for other games:

I do not understand how preload stuff works, or even what it means, but i do know that i was only able to apply an NPC rig to the player if the preload_rigs.vpp_pc pack contained the rig_pc and sim_pc files (no idea what the latter is). It was all pretty confusing. The hard part of that is altering the contents of preload_rigs.vpp_pc, as Rick's VPP unpacker doesn't work on that file; it reads the data offsets incorrectly. I made an alternate version that does extract them right (and i suppose i should post it somewhere), but it doesn't work on all of the other VPP files, so it's not exactly an upgrade.
