Car Reflection Maps

When you are driving, and you enter a place such as a tunnel, a reflection map of the tunnel will wrap your car, similar to reflection maps in Mafia The City of Lost Heaven. How do these reflection maps work? Is it possible to edit them?
 
It appears that the game renders them as you drive through the environment, so no, until we can edit the world geometry (when the SDK comes out) you will have to settle with editing the world textures for every object (they can be found in the two largest .vpp_pc files in your /packfiles/pc/cache dir)
