Could someone mod the heavy pistol (default skin) to use the shooting sound made by NPCs using heavy pistols?

I never really liked the sounds made by the default pistols. During a virus diversion I fought some bikers and the sound from their heavy pistols had a really satisfying, more realistic sounding punch to them. I'm sorry if this is a very simple thing to ask and I should do it myself. I don't actually know where to start with learning how to mod, I just joined this forum.
