I'm playing the genkibowl dlc after installing the new gentleman of steel port and it crashes within short order. I also find that trying to drive the professors car with eventually lead to a glitch where the flips and does weird stuff until the game crashes. is this from the mods or is the game in need of an update?

How reproducible is it? Can you make it happen consistently? Have you tried removing all mods and seeing if it behaves the same way? I have seen a lot of videos from people playing vanilla (on consoles too) where cars will randomly do that.
yes, it is consistant. I have not tried it without mods, But when you say vanilla, you mean with the genkibowl dlc?

When I say vanilla I only mean non-modded; i.e. the original unmodified files.
I see where the confusion is though. I initially thought you were referring to the manapult and my comment about seeing videos was in reference to other cars acting that way. I now realize you meant the new Genki car from the Genkibowl DLC with the flamethrowers, and I have not heard of anyone having those problems with it specifically.
I am most curious to know if removing all mods fixes it. I personally have played through the entire Genkibowl DLC with the latest GoS and it worked just fine for me. I also have not heard reports from any other players with a similar issue to yours.

I tried it without mods and it ran fine. so I'm thinking that either the new method of installing G.O.S. isn't quite perfected or they released a new patch for the pc(and thus requiring an update yet again!)

Just the standard coop compatible options.
Renaming the old files certainly shouldn't be the cause since I do that myself. Have you tried to verify integrity and reinstall the mods afterwards? Are you certain that you are running the Steam version? Are you absolutely sure that you are using the latest GoS v1.0 Beta 1.2 that came out the same night after the Genkibowl release and not an older version?

havn't verified integrity, but I am using the steam version and the latest gos.
I tried using the coop compatible version and everything was fine. perhaps the advanced version needs some tweaking?

I used the option that unflags all cheats(but even when not using cheats, it still screws up)
