Gateway Garage Customize Crash-Lockup

I've had this problem since launch and was hoping it would get a fix with the latest patch, but I keep seeing no mention of it so I'm beginning to think it's not a common problem.

Basically, the problem is; If I go to my Gateway, then to the Garage and select a Car and choose Customize. As soon as I attempt to Purchase any customization (including Body Mods, Colors and Wheels) the game will sort of "Lock-Up". It's not really crashed or frozen, it simply stops accepting input from Mouse, Keyboard or GamePad (X360 for Windows). Task Manager says it's running, the sound continues, and the back-drop still animates, but the only thing I can do, is Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then force a Stop Task.

Here's the really odd part. If I just select a Car while in the Gateway and then drive it to a Rim-Job and can do all the upgrades I want. But even this will sometimes lockup, maybe once out of every ten cars I try to customize. I can't find a specific car either, they all seem to do this.

I might be crazy to care about the car customization in this iteration of Saints Row, but it's one of the things I really love and enjoy about all the Saints Row games.

I've had this with no Mods installed, and I've tried the Customize any vehicle plus wardrobe color changer Mod, with the same results. Any suggestions on what I can do here?

My computer is a little old now, but the specs are;
OS: Window 7 Ultimate x64 bit
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz
RAM: 12.0 GB
HDD Free Space: 150.0 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5670 (x2 with Crossfire)
Video Ram: 2048 MB

I think this is related to a memory issue in the interface code. It seems to pop up from time to time. I'm trying to push a memory bump for that pool so it will go away, look for it in a future patch.
