Headphones and Speakers not working, already tried fixes in guides

I would really appreciate if someone could help me to solve this annoying problem I have with Saints Row 2. I usually play all my games using headphones or an external speaker, since my laptop's audio is kind of crappy. I've never had any problem with those until I got SR2.

Problem is, the first intro screens that come up whem I run the game sound as intended, via the external speaker of the headphones; problem is, when i get to the title screen and in game, sound come up from my laptop speakers, always ignoring the plugged speaker or the headphones, even when they are plugged and my normal sound (music, system, etc) work as intended.

I have windows 7 64 bit. I've had already read and tried the fixes from these guides: (http://steamcommunity.com/app/9480/discussions/0/846958724811426425/ - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1715922) and I can't sort the problem. I don't have hardware acceleration, and I set my sound to CD quiality and tested the audio in stereo. I also don¿t have the Dolby option.

I've seen this is a common problem, and I really want to find a solution. Any help would be welcome, thanks!

Idk if this will work for you, but it works for me. All you have to do is make sure your headphones and any external speakers that plug into your audio jack are unplugged, then wait for the game to load until the main menu is available, then plug in your ear/headphones or external speakers. That frustrated and confused me too but then I just experimented and found that to be a solution. Hope it helps! :'D

Actually I fixed it by disabling communications headphones in the control panel, but it doesn't hurt at all to have other options to fix this issue. Thanks for your answer!
