How can I extract my customized character from SR4 and edit it in 3ds max?

I want to extract the character model and edit it,
then import it into other games, such as Garry's mod/L4D2...

I have tried to use 3d ripper dx, but it did not work.

Could anyone suggest some tools that can do this?

Ditto; would love to see my character on the cryengine sdk, would be awesome

Not to mention easy; even if you dont like a certain aspect you can change just the one thing; then boom a character model made within one hour

I think that SR:IV has got a pre-defined Playermodel which is loaded at the Game start.
SR:IV reads out several Information about your custom character and applies those to that pre-defined model.

Well thats what I think about it.

Sounds logical; the only thing thats got my confused is this; each and every clothing item is a model in itself right? How does the game apply a model; to youd character whilr maintaining build and stuff because surely a model is a model doesn't widen/thin itself?

Well, it gets layered on your player.

.. surely a model is a model doesn't widen/thin itself?

Actually they do. I don't fully understand it but most of the models in the game have a "Morph" file that goes along with it. The morph file for clothing controls how the model widens/thins itself when put on by the player.

I believe the player model also has morph files associated with it that controls how the model changes when you adjust a slider in the character creator.

*This is all my understanding of how the game works and may not actually reflect reality but I will hold onto this belief until I find out otherwise.

Someone from other forum told me to find those people who made XNAlara models,
he said they could help, but I don't know the ways.
