How do I install mods?

Whenever I try to install mods my game always crashes please help me.
Btw all my class files say .vpp_pc at the end of them

Im installing it to this
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\saints row the third\packfiles\pc\cache

You are going to far, you only have to drop them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\saints row the third\

Right where the executable files are located.

All mod's you download here, except for GoS goes to the ROOT-SRTT Folder.

The instructions included with GoS tell you how to install it; i don't recall the exact method offhand.
