Loading Times

I bought Saint's Row the other day in the Steam sale and finished downloading it today (I've already finished it on xbox, but mods are cool) so I started a new game and after the cutscenes the game satrted, well, loading. A lot. I must have left it for at least 15 minutes. So I exited and loaded it up again, I went on whored mode and, to my surprise, that loaded fine so I played that a bit before trying to start the campaign again. Same problem, so I googled it and most people said to run in wondowed mode and turn off v-Sync, so I did. Still no dice. I left it for another 20 minutes loading and nothing. I even tried the DirectX 9 version, that didn't work. And I doubt it's my PC because Whored mode works fine, as do all my other games (Skyrim, Blacklight, F:NV, ect.)

Verify file integrity!

Generally, when it's stuck loading, that means that one of the files is corrupt, or you've installed some modded files that do not have the asm file properly updated.

So yes, the first two steps are to verify the local game cache (it will redownload the .exe no matter what, but there may be other files it needs to repair), and to make sure you do not have any mods installed (delete any .str2_pc, .xtbl, .asm_pc or other added files from the main directory).

If it's because you had some mods installed, be aware that any mod that includes a .str2_pc file needs to have its accompanying .asm_pc file, and two mods which both modify the .asm_pc file need to have it updated to be compatible with both simultaneously.

You, sir are a genius. I guess I'm just used to the whole Bethesda game modding thing and just being able to use as many as I want without having to do anything . :D

Amen, my brother. Amen.

Forever dreaming of a universe where struggling THQ sub-company Volition is bought by Bethesda Games...

Only for everyone else to patch it because someone lied when he said it would be given as needed patches...and be broken as hell on day one.
