Mask in the ship.

I Have created a new character to play through the game a second time using the nolan north voice actor. Said character wears a mask, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make it so the mask stayed on during moments on the ship, as well as in the simulation, while wearing the generic space suit that you end up in. I guess this could lead to, is there a possible way to customize what you look like all together, while on the ship?
