After seeing the SpecialK injection mod to the bloody canoness suit (removing the headwear) I've been playing around with SpecialK to mod other items in similar fashions. But I keep running into snags with obscured slots/VIDs that won't cooperate (in addition to the game hard crashing when I screw up the files). Like the Gang Leather Top & Jacket. I clipped out the top easily enough, leaving just the jacket behind. But the mesh for stomach region is hidden, even after removing those VIDs from the obscured VIDs list. Similarly, I removed the bra slot and privacy top slot from the obscured slot list, but that did nothing. (I also discovered that paired clothing items use the same base textures, so changes happen to both of them.)
Now, I noted, from searching around here, that maybe the issue is related to the game not using the customization_item.xtbl file in the root directory for dlc clothing items. But the approach given to get around that -- Possible to modify DLC customization_items.xtbl? -- didn't help either. I removed dlc4_customization_item.xtbl reference, which the clothing items in question all have listed as their dlc, from misc_tables.vpp_pc the same way. But the game either isn't reading it from the root directory, or I'm doing something wrong. Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong dlc.vpp_pc file? Or maybe my problem is unrelated? I was able to change VIDs for the Morningstar Soldier DLC costume without any problems (but not the obscured slots for some reason). It has some of the same hidden VIDs as the Gang Leather Top, too, but it didn't fight my attempts to unhide them.
I can make do with what I've got, but I was really hoping to get closer to being 'perfect' (as can be achieved without full mod support like SRIV).
