"Playing as an NPC" is a common request. You may find other threads on this topic by searching for "NPC morphs" and stuff like that. There's apparently some difficulty, even on the engine side, in allowing this to happen. I don't know whether it will be possible ever.
But for now, I suggest just joining one of those other threads. Since this is a duplicate request, for the sake of keeping information in fewer places, I'm going to lock this thread.
