PS3 button layout

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to make a hud mod that changes to x360 buttons for the PS3 ones. I'm using a DualShock 3 by emulating the 360 pad via x360ce, and of course, the button layout displayed is 360's. It would be nice to see the buttons you really press.

Thanks!

Possible, probably. I think it would be great if every game had this mod, or better yet, had it built-in as an option.

Now, please don't take this as a discouragement, but ... considering how many games don't, maybe it'd make your life easier if you just mentally learned to map ABXY to positions, in your head. Make a conscious effort. Practice at it for a while. If you can do this, then you'll be ready for ALL games.

But otherwise, I don't see why not. The UI elements are textures. Those can be modded. I hope someone does this for ya.

For me it would be merely a cosmetic issue, meant to make the game look better, nothing more. I've been playing games with the 360 interface for a very long time, but almost all the times, there's no real point in requesting a mod to change it for the PS3 buttons. Saints Row The Third isn't the case, I've got a lot of fun in the past and I'm playing it again with my gf but, this time, the idea of a hud mod came to my mind :)

Anyway, I hope someone can make it, it would be really cool.

When I get home, I'll post up the sr2 tilesheet that has all the ps3 button icons that someone could use for it.

Cool buttons! Now let's wait if somebody can make something from it. Thank you! (I'll be watching this thread ;))

I've been checking the tutorials that can be found around here. It seems that you need to write a batch file in order to extract the textures from the game. I've 0 capacity to do that nor experience modding SR3, that's why I requested this mod. Nevertheless, after reading those tutorials I've understood (correct me if I'm wrong) that after extracting those textures, you can edit them with Photoshop, just like any other game (I've some experience modifying textures for Skryim, Dark Souls; .dds and .png file formats respectively). That's why I'm offering now my help, if needed, to create this mod.

I would just modify the textures needed, then I would reupload them again for someone else to repack the mod. That's it. If someone is willing to help me, we would create the mod together. But if that person prefers to make it on his/her own, that would be great too.

Anyway, I think it would be a cool addition for the game (to have this mod), so I hope someone is interested in this.
