Question about mods and updates

I have several mods installed and was curious if Steam updates the game or I buy any DLC will that break the mods that I have installed? Or will everything still work?

Mostly it depends on what they update.

If the update contains a newer version of a file in a mod, you will most likely have to wait for the OP to update the mod.

Or you could update the mod yourself by using the file(s) that came with the patch/DLC.
