What does everyone think about this? I personally loved the idea behind it but am now a sad panda that it will probably never see the light of day now. Just think, what if the saints are behind everything in Red Faction, or if the Ultor Corp. breaks away from the saints and goes to mars. So much possibility with that story arc.

My theory is that:
the saints row creators said that Saints row will change "its the end of saints row as we know it"
in Saints Row IV now they introduced Aliens-->Aliens come from the space--->the space is where Mars is--->Ultor is from saints and ultor...
i believe that Red Faction is "saints row in the future" and with future i mean like inside saints row story like if in the game had passed like 80 years or maybe 100 and then BOOM red faction colides with saints row in a saints row game... my head hurts now

Haha yea that can happen. But in reality Red Faction is now owned by a different company, and unless they want to use volition, I can't see it going any further than it has.
Never played the Red Faction games. All I know is supposedly the whole Mars mining is handled by Ultor (which has the same logo does it?)
It sounds like a reference they threw in to their prior games, and then kind of ran with it. If there's any real connections (aside from a reference to Mars I've heard exists but never seen myself) could someone explain a bit?
I kind of wish the Geomod system would work with the SR3/4 engine, but I understand that'd be a nightmare to implement with any sort of detail. And that's assuming you turf the console ports and go hog-wild with PC capabilities.

Red Faction was created before Saints Row, as far as I remember, so Ultor was introduced there first. Saints Row, like Red Faction, is developed by Volition and published by THQ, so they decided to make SR in the same universe as Red Faction. Red Faction itself is an entirely different thing which has nothing to do with the Saints (but I may be wrong).

Ultor was put into Saints Row as a reference to Red Faction originally, but then was kept as an antagonistic force in SR2 because they fit for what Volition wanted for the plot, and then was only kept around afterwards since the corporation became fully ingrained into the Saints Row universe. On the flipside, there's an easter egg in Red Faction: Guerrilla making reference to SR2 in the form of an audio log of Shaundi. Volition has stated multiple times that while they've made subtle jabs and references to the two series in their respective games, they are not connected in any way, shape or form. Also, as I've stated before: with the earth getting blown to hell in SRIV and Volition no longer owning or working on the Red Faction series(that's Nordic Games now), there are no more connections between the two series.
