Sometimes when I try to play SRTT it runs really slowly and then after a few minutes it locks up (and the audio plays a short loop). The computer still runs, I can alt-tab out of it and kill the process and everything else is still working fine, it's just the game.
At first I thought it must be a mod acting up, so I uninstalled them and reverified the game, but that made no difference. Then I checked the troubleshooting threads stickied here and saw the thing about quad-core processors, so I tried setting the affinity, but that made no difference either.
Most of the time it seems to work fine, but when it decides to not work I can't find any way to get it going properly again other than just waiting and trying again another time. Restarting the computer doesn't help.
I'm running WinXP SP3 on an Intel Core i5 661 with a Radeon HD 7700 Series with 2GB of RAM. I've downloaded the latest drivers for the video card (which also didn't help). It being WinXP I'm obviously running the DX9 version. The only things running other than SRTT and Steam are a virus scanner and whatever normal stuff Windows has going on in the background since I only use Windows for playing games.
