Should SR4 Have Been DLC?

After playing it, do you think SR4 should have been DLC like the original plan?

I don't really think enough was added to consider this a full game. Just more missions and superpowers. Then again, I personally thought it was worth the $50 because it was very fun. I don't think is should have been DLC just because it was very fun and it fixed the story. (NO SPOILERS!)

definitely not, the amount of fun SR4 gave me so far is amazing. It may be in the same city, with pretty much the same vehicles and looks pretty much the same as SR3 but it dont feel like a lousy sequel or a DLC. Steelport feels different with super powers since you no longer drive but hop from roof top to roof top or wall run them then glide through the skies. The mission in game is a lot better than previous SR games, the activities dont feel like a last minute shove in content to make the game longer like back in SR3 and more activities types in game too.

In my opinion, Saints Row IV is NOT a DLC for Saints Row The Third and it is a full blown sequel to Saints Row The Third.

It's too different from SR3 in the structure and the atmosphere to be a DLC, it it was a DLC I would complain "why didn't they made a full game out of it ?"

However, I would consider it a spin-off, I want the next SR games to take the SR3 route, with more content and a fresh start, but more grounded while still being over-the-top, SR4 is glorious but I have the feeling that what makes it great would only work for one game

Due to the story and how much it there was, no. It deserved a new game. It changed the game to much to just be DLC.

Overall I think Saints Row IV does take the 'over the top' sandbox feel to the extreme. Sure, the lack of 'cribs' doesn't feel very Saint Row-esque... but who cares? Why do we need safehouses, for that matter? I am kind of glad they did away with them as it is a change.

On the route of super powers... and the alien invasion was quite well done. Sure, Virtual Steelport is a tad bit cliche since it's familiar territory that we went through in SR3. But with it being a simulation and nothing is as it truly seems. It really is different from it's previous incarnation. And I'd like to note that they did improve upon quite a few NPC models and even added some new hairstyles/hat styles. Heck, they dropped the elderly ladies with the long trenchcoats and gave them long, flowy skirts and pretty blouses and all.

All in all... and I may just be blabbing about general, nonsensical stuff... but if they do continue with a Saints Row 5... then maybe expand it from just one city to a plethora of cities aka travelling from planet to planet since Earth is technically gone and the Saints are kind of stuck in space now. I guess the Saints could now consider themselves as 'Rogues in space'.

heh. nope. it may have started as dlc..... but... it quickly became worthy of that $50 price tag.

I actually like the idea they use back Steelport, Steelport is boring like hell in comparison to Stillwater and since SR4 is about the Saints being put into personal hell, Steelport works perfectly for me.
