SR2 Crashing on Startup

Pretty self explanatory title.. I just bought Saints Rows 2 on Steam because I randomly remembered it and the game is crashing before it even really launches. The game window opens for a second and then "sr2_pc.exe" has stopped working. I already checked THQ/Saints Row 2 for the settings.dat which doesn't exist, checked disable display scaling under compatibility and tried verifying the game cache. I don't know what else to do now.

My specs are as follows:
Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Phenom 9500 Quadcore Processor at 2.2 GHz
8 GB of ram
AMD Radeon HD 6700 video card and I don't know what else you would want..
 
I'm having the same issue as well. Tried getting a windowed settings.dat, compability, disable all enhancements in audio and verifying the game cache. Shamelessly throwing myself into your thread in hopes of help.

Did it work? >~< All I did was try getting the Gentlemen of the Row mod because some other players said that worked for them. It didn't work for me though. :c
Mind you, I did try building a custom patch instead of the vanilla one.
