SR2 < SR3

Hey everyone, I'm back again with another silly request that probably just go right in the garbage can - but before you raise your finger and scream at me for sharing my deepest thoughts about this marvelous game, open your eyes and watch.

Saints Row 2 was all about getting the Saints back up and running, and there was complications as Ultor, Brotherhood, Samedi, Ronin - and that storyline was the best storyline in the series so far in my opinion. And things were more simple and not so futuristic with flying scooters or whatever they're called, all that were able to fly was normal realistic helicopters and airplanes. And those gangs weren't some cyberspace sons of bitches that ran around on rollerskates at supersonic speed, or having incredibly big russian guys that can take a million shots in the face before dying. I also miss back when you could ram one of your wings into a building and still be able to fly (somewhat) - but that is nearly impossible, and impossible without the tools which we do not have. So now you might be wondering, what is this fella trying to say? I'm trying to say, that there is things that remains possible for trying to turn SR3 into SR2... And now you're like; but why in the hell don't you just play SR2 then? If you liked that better? Well, SR3 was a great overhaul and renewed tons of animations and graphics that just looks so much better, so going back to SR2 would be pointless. But here's the thing, I have a load of possible things to make SR3 be a lot like SR2 for you guys out there that are like me and my friends, we miss SR2 - we miss actually having a gang as it's suppose to be like, not a futuristic sci-fi gang that rules the internet. Okay, so here's the shitload of ideas I promised:

  • Unarmed combat should go back to the way it was, meaning 3 normal punches in a row will trigger the combo effects. (Speed attacks aren't suppose to be affected by this, though)
  • The shop owners AI's should go back to the way they were back in SR2, meaning that when they're robbed, they actually go to the cash register before you get the money.
  • All pedestrains are suppose to fight back when you punch them, they're no fun if they don't even resist! (This has already been made by a few guys, but I'm looking forward to a huge mod including all these things to make it EXCACTLY like SR2 without the impossible things)
  • Cops aren't suppose to shoot your ass at 1 star, they're only suppose to shoot back or punch you (something like this has already been made, I think)
  • Disabling all the perks... (Minimaul is working on the save editor, which contains this excact thing - but it's pickable which ones you'd like to keep) ((You might wan't to download his save editor outside this mod, because he owns it and I'm not authorized to upload his work))
  • All S.T.A.G veichles are suppose to be RESTRICTED meaning they won't spawn and won't show up in your garage, etc.
  • Deckers specialists... They're also suppose to be restricted, as they really are unrealistic.
  • Brutes, they're suppose to have a HUUUGE decrease in health and damage
  • All S.T.A.G weapons and the Deckers weapon from the last couple of missions are also suppose to be restricted as they're just too unrealistic
  • All Gangstas in Space DLC should be restricted aswell... I know, I know - what's the point in buying the DLC then, well, I don't know - I bought it for the storyline, which I hated.
  • The Genki mascot that causes terror on the streets... Restrict the sonuvabitch
  • Trains... What's up with the trains in SR3? They aren't driving around like in SR2, they're all broken - I mean, wtf? IF it's possible to make them drive around again, then they should.
Okay guys, now I'm sorry that I was being negative about SR3's new stuff - but don't get me wrong, it's because I loved SR2 and simply dislike the new twitches and turns in SR3. And also, it's quite a list I made, and yes it's not easy nor worth it if you don't follow my idea. But there's a lot of scripters out there, just send me a message on which one you think you're able to script - and if you've already made one, just allow me to upload it in the full package when it's complete. And yes, you will receive all the credits, I only take credits for the idea. So, what do you guys say? Miss SR2 as much as I do? Just hangin' in the normal crappy crib smoking marijuana and drinking cheap beer, good times.


EDIT: And also, the fighting back in the days - it was so gangster, now it's shitty 'fun' animations like, jumping over a dude like 'where did he go, oh there *punch*' and that sucks, the old animations were more gangster/serious which I loved. I loved beating up your own guys using the 3-hit combos because it looked so awesome. Now it's just ridicoulous and fucked up. Especially the one where you run and then lay on the floor smiling at the 'camera'.

"unrealistic"!? >.> Saints Row is made for that! Mainly what I want back is the ability to pick up and throw stuff. And implementing the ideas of yours (that aren't about lowering the Brute's health or restricting things) could be okay. Maybe one variation of the completed mod with all and one with some (Everything that doesn't involve restricting stuff and lowering Brute's health) of your ideas could work well.

Yeah, I get your point. People always reminds me that I'm playing the craziest game ever, but that's not why I'm playing it. But I can't speak for everybody, since people are different. So you're right, I may include two files - one with the basic SR2 things and another one with all the new cyberspace stuff removed.
 
Lowering the brutes health is easier then you think... Just open Spawn_info_ranks and Ctrl F "Search brute" And tweak all their health bars for Brute, Flamethrower brute, and mini gun brute
 
I agree with Anders Raid, sometimes SR3 is just to unrealistic even though it was made like that.

Well, I have some xtbl files in my directory which for example will:
- Make cops use their fists and stun guns at 1 shield

- Tweaked all the police and gang spawns as well as their roadblocks, damage dealt, health, firing rate,... (really proud of this: now having police at notoriety 1 and 2, SWAT joining in at 3 and 4 and the SNG completely taking over at notoriety 5. Just hated having SNG troops chasing me in Bulldogs already at Notoriety 4 at which point you sometimes wouldn't even have encountered a single SWAT officer before and then having SWAT units still showing up at notoriety 5. Didn't make any sence.)

- No more mascots, prof genki, gimp suits and strippers walking allong the streets, hookers only at night in certain neighbourhoods

- Player dies much more quickly and health recharges much slower

- SWAT, SNG and STAG troops can't be taken hostage anymore and won't flinch when shooting at them.

- Made some changes to some of the weapons.

- Removed Saints and enemy gang spawning all over the place. I found it so annoying that whenever a cop started shooting at me all of the sudden 5 purple wearing fools starting charging him or when shooting at the cops all of the sudden gang members like the Deckers feel threatened and start helping the cops. Only one problem though, there are no more Saints in the streets which is good but now the cribs also are empty except for some strippers and random people. I'm looking for a way to fix this. Already found a flag which I used which made Saints spawn in the cribs but no more in the streets but that also got rid off all the traffic so that was a no go. No I will find a save file editor and edit the gang zones so that each district has one zone which doesn't belong to the Saints (districts that don't have 100% control won't have any Saints walking along the streets.)

- Got rid of the STAG base left in Sunset Park, repaired the Magarec Statue, put back the Syndicate tower with Saints color in case someone would have blew it up during that mission, got rid of the wreck of the tymporelakjlblala (the huge STAG aircraft carrier) and also removed all damage and zombies from Arapice Island. All bridges have been lowered as well.

- Made some other changes considering the traffic and also made it possible to make police helicopter fly over the city every now and then.

- I'm also looking for a way to deupgrade my strongholds because the maximum upgrades ones are a bit big I think xp

To bad Anders Raid won't be able to read this since he's banned :s
