To start this off, I just want it to be known that I'm all for holding developers accountable when they make questionable decisions. However in this situation, that's not the case.
Ever since the newest Saints Row game was announced, there has been a wave of constant disrespect toward the developers at Volition. It's very sickening and honestly unacceptable how they've been treated the past few months. They've gotten threats, insults, and all things negative hurled at them because y'all are unhappy that the game isn't a carbon copy of SR1 or GTA? The community knew that this was going to be a reboot, not a remaster or remake, but a complete reboot. Reboots are absolutely normal in this industry and GTA (since this game gets referenced a lot when talking about SR) does it all the time to the point where they now have three separate universes. That's besides the point though, if you were not happy with what you saw then there are ways that you can express your frustration without hurling insults at the developers.
I've seen some very nasty comments, but one in particular that stood out to me, was somebody wishing (TW ) rape and suicide on one of the developers, all because she shared her boss for the showcase during International Women's Week. That was a horrible reaction to someone sharing their boss on top of all the other comments, calling their bosses cringe etc etc. How would y'all feel if you posted something that you were proud of creating and people completely slander it and wish something as horrible as the act mentioned above on said creation. That type of behavior is very weird and definitely not funny.
People in this community will sit here and attack the developers across social media platforms, then turn around and complain that they are not transparent with the community when they really are despite what a lot of people say! If I was in their case, I'd cut back contact with a community that's not appreciating of it. Even then, they can't always share everything due to NDAs which is a Non-Disclosure Agreement that prevents people from sharing certain information with outside parties. (Can't believe I have to explain that.) Furthermore, stop being dismissive of information they put out when it's something you don't like. What's the point of asking for transparency and communication when you disregard what they say because you don't like what you're hearing.

The GIF
Since I already know someone is going to bring it up. I personally believe that a GIF that is 10+ years old and was made around SRTT's release was not the worst thing posted on the internet like some people make it out to be. It was also in response to a comment that WASN'T constructive criticism like some individuals have claimed. It was a rude comment and I personally thought it was an appropriate response to it.
TLDR: There's no excuse for the way people who claim to be fans of the series (regardless of which ones you claim) to attack/insult/demean the devs the way y'all do. They've never once turned their back on the community and they've been as transparent at they can be. If you want more communication and interaction with the developers then stop treating them like garbage.
