Unable to launch game

I tried installing the gentlemen of steelport mod but it would get past the logos and instantly close.

I removed it and tried reinstalling and now i either get "Error code 55" or "completing installation"

None of my other games are having this issue. Do i need to remove some registry keys?

Alright, let's get your game back to its base state, first. Delete all the files in the root directory of the game installation (but not the folders inside). Run a cache verification.

I actually totally wiped it earlier.

Tried using steam service\install but that was blocked by a hypothetical firewall.

Still, removing the loose files might help anyway.

Edit: That fixed it.

Classic troubleshooting technique: when something doesn't work, get someone to watch you do it, and then it works.

I hate it when i don't think of things.

ALso do you know why i can't customize the vulture at the saints helipad? It always just exits me.

Helicopters and VTOLs cannot be customized, normally. One of the optional mods in GoS turns them into boats, so you can customize them at a dock, but don't try to do missions while it's installed because they will not fly; edit them then uninstall it.
