I received this in my mailbox. Checking the appropriate thread there is no mention of the message that was in my mail.

So that was an actual -if not genuine- post?
I was already worried I had snagged a virus sending me some bogus message.

Yes, it was a spambot that created an account, copied a post, then added links to merchandise stuff. The forum just updated you that someone quoted your post (which we deleted like Minimaul said.)
