SRIV Why can't I save vehicles during a mission?

The title says it all, why isn't it possible to save vehicles during a mission most of times? That way I lost an opportunity to get STAG gear without cheating. :/
Maybe there's a possibility that this limitation can be removed through mods.
 
You're probably attempting to save a vehicle that has been scripted to appear and we don't usually allow the player to do that since it makes it too easy to acquire some of the vehicles. Especially with the save-anywhere garage that was included in SR4. We also don't allow you to save vehicles that came out of a coop partner's garage since that could cause you to circumvent DLC and gameplay rewards.

Not something that would be mod-able.
 
Could be, I tried to save a Bulldog with a turret and a Crusader tank to no avail, both during a mission.
