Wrong footstep sfx after jumping, rolling, etc

Paraphrasing from the reference post,

"Some game animations(landing, entering/exiting vehicles, ...) are supposed to temporally replace the footstep sound of the protagonist.
Yet, due to a bug, these footstep sound replacements can stuck permenantly until a game reload or a wardrobe access.
For example, if the the protagonist jumps while moving forward, the protagonist's footstep sound will be switched to sneaker shoes sound after landing, regardless which shoes the protagonist are actually wearing."

This bug existed in SRIII, although there was a patch on this forum that was put out which fixed this.

Is there a way to functionally recreate this for SRIV?

Open to learning to fix this myself, I just have no idea where to start.
