    Weapon_costumes is for, well, costumes, alternative 3d models for weapons. I believe weapon_skins.xtbl, the file responsible for alternative textures, is in misc_tables.vpp_pc for some reason.

    Yup you should already have the modding patch installed if your copy of SRIV is up to date. You can either use 3d modelling software along with the SDK to apply a chrome material to the model or retexture the baseball bat to make it look more like metal.

    None of Minimaul's tools are malicious. In fact you can check their source code and compile them yourself if you still have doubts. However, if you downloaded the tools from this site, there's nothing to worry about.

    I don't know how they got in there but there are two bones in your rig that are fucking everything up. Just delete "joint1" and "joint2" from your scene and everything should work as expected.

    Hmm, I'd go with the Y-up, centimeter version, but make some changes in maya. First unbind your mesh from your rig then rotate "bone_root" 90 degrees on the x axis in maya, then remove all history and bind your model to the skeleton again.
