Add A10 (ab destroyer) to helipad

I love this freaking plane, but I hate trekking all the way to the far side of the map to get it, only to have a cop car ram the wing off as I'm trying to take off. I think I'd prefer to take my chances trying to take off with 100 feet of helipad.
 
You could also NOT piss off the cops. I mean there are some stupid things cops get mad at (ie standing near them as they are shot at for some reason) but it not like you can't get a VTOL from a helipad and go to the airport. Then again I may just be crazy for thinking things are that easy.

The AB is a plane. If you try to take off from a helicopter pad...

You will just push yourself over the edge, and end up crashing to the ground below.

I agree with the other guy who posted in here about VTOLs.

Because it's so hard to grab one from your crib, fly over the airport, and then jump out?

That DOES sound hella unconventional for a takeoff, though.

Just remembered something. The AB spawns facing forward at the Airport.

What if it spawns facing forward on the helipad? :lol:
 
Sorry if I like taking planes out on missions, it's not terribly fun having to fly out to the far side of the map and back constantly. And if you haven't noticed, you don't really need more than a hundred feet to take off with a plane, and as Corrodias pointed out, you start off on pretty tall buildings, giving you plenty of correction time.

Also about police forgiveness, you keep a star if there are cops still shooting at you, making it useless for that purpose. Pretty much, you can't snag a plane if you have more than one star, which is pretty annoying.

EDIT: Okay, it looks like the flag that makes it appear in the helipad is vehicle_type, however I think that same flag has something to do with how the engines work, so changing it from airplane to helicopter is probably fucking something up. I can't actually look at the plane in the helipad garage, the game crashes to desktop.

Anyone know a workaround?
 
All of the garage list population stuff seems to be internal code.

So is the list of vehicles you get in the cell phone. That is, to get the list of vehicles available, it makes an internal function call, which uses a callback function to populate a Lua table for the UI to display, then when you make a selection, it makes another internal function call with the ID of the item you selected. At no point do i see a way to interfere with the internal vehicle list or what vehicle type it uses to populate the list.

I assumed that we can't just change the Vehicle_Type on the vehicles, because it would completely mess them up, and you've confirmed that point.

Now I'm curious about how the cribs work. Maybe it's possible to add a hangar to one.
 
That's a good idea. Also, I attempted to take a plane off from a helipad (after landing in there, which was a feat) and it's completely a non-issue. The planes all turn on a dime, so adjusting the angle isn't an issue, and even with 10 feet of runway they get airborne without even a dip in altitude.
