adding gang customization vehicles

I considered that, but sadly we didn't have any crunching tools at the time, and the variants require that. Never tried since.. should work tho.

In SR3 the game ignores the variants when it actually spawns them. They'll appear as the default variant. It also ignores the <variant> tag in the xtbl and assumes saints, as otherwise you get the same thing where no vehicle shows and the keyboard becomes non-responsive (but mouse will override thankfully). It should be enough to splice in a new 'saints' variant, and for every car done it can be used for a gang, be it in SR3 or SR4. That sounds a bit like a worthy (but time-intensive mod), adding new saints variants to every vehicle so we can use them ALL in gang customization.

Of course, Volition would be the ones to ask about the actual 'no saints variant spawning' bug, but apparently it'd been missed until we pointed it out, and it's part of the long-standing little bugs/features for SR3 they have noted to be patched whenever.
 
My mod is concerned specifically with the police (and military) cars, so I'll be focusing on that. It does seem a little time-consuming but I'm interested in it enough (and it doesn't seem TOO daunting) to keep me from losing interest.
