nah, the kayak is just the taxi now.
Speaking of the taxi, when looking in some of the misc tables, it appears that at one point the gateways where going to be taxis.

There is an flag in the Homies table file called Taxi, you should check it out.
Makes me wonder if you can 'strip down' a SR4 Taxi to turn it into a Kayak in all but name
Wouldn't it just be as simple as a texture change? The Taxi flag isn't tied to the Taxi itself and can be applied to most (if not all) vehicles.
I meant via the garage; removing the decals ans the like.

No. The color channels are broken, and the taxi decals can't be removed.
