Blocking in combat

So i wasn't sure where to put this, cause it's not a request, more so a question for later.
With all the new tools that will eventually be released, do you guys ever think it would be possible to add blocking into melee/unarmed combat? While i love that we have the ability to dodge, i feel like things would be cooler if we could block incoming melee attacks as well.
Is that a thing that would eventually be possible?

i'm asking this here and not in the SRIV forum cause i have no clue about the changes that have been implemented in that game at all.
 
I'm guessing that it probably wouldn't be something that the tools we release would easily be able to support. I'd expect that you'll eventually be able to make and play animations that could be used for blocking but to use those animations you'd would have to be interacting with the engine in a way that just isn't practical with how the engine is tied to the scripting.
 
So ya think it wouldn't be possible. and this is once again just a question.
to have the character just close in his hands just slightly more than the normal hand to hand animation has their hands closed in, and then for the period where say, that button is being pressed, the character is invincible to (for the purposes of making it simple as possible, damage in general)

that's the only way i can think so say it where it would be path of least resistance. I'm not lookin for counters or fancy blocking animations, just the bare bones.

in hindsight it wouldn't be that simple, so you are right, there'd have to be a way to account for the enemies hits stopping as if they were actually hitting something, otherwise they'd just go through you and even though you didn't take damage, it would still be kinda odd.
