Camera View & Aim over the head Please.

Hey could somebody adjust this file for me please : camera_free.xtbl

i used to use it in SR 3 and the effect was perfect for game play. (at least for me)

description of view:

player centered in midle of screen instead of player next to radar ,
FOV just a bit farther but not to far so you can see the feets of your char and not the ground
(unless you pan your camera with mouse ofcourse)
this way you still can enjoy how your char looks from close.

For the " aim dot " , slightly over the head of your char.

You think you can do that for me & other ppl ?

Oh and i tryed the mod of SR3 , it works directly how it used to be ,
but when you use superpowers like sprint & jump ,
the whole screen start to look weird, making it impossible to notice where you are going.

This is the file i used in SR3 : camera_free.xtbl

Just try it out and you will see what i mean.
it needs some tweaks when using super powers but the view & aim is perfect.

Thx & let me know if you can fix it and/or upload it when done.

This should be close to what you want. It is the camera settings I used on my play through of SR4. Only real difference is the fine aim (holding down the right mouse button) I couldn't quite get it right with the character centered so I offset it slightly so that you are looking straight down their right arm.

I'm still tweaking it so there is also an issue with the mech suit in small hallways (the camera appears in the ceiling) but it is fine in large open areas.

EDIT: Attached two images with mech suit but couldn't find an area to demonstrate issue with being in a hallway (like on the Zin ship).

EDIT2: Camera table temporarily removed whilst I get permission.

EDIT3: I got permission from Shitface, this mod also contains his FOV Fix.

Hey , this is what i was talking about.
nice job!

Now i'm experimenting a bit with the values but i'm kinda lost a bit ...
there are to many values in it lol

wich line is for the charachter ?
i mean for making it a bit closer or further (the FOV)

is it this one ?

Camera On Foot all 0.0 1.85 0.0 -37.50 65 75 3.5 0.63 1

or do you need more adjustments ?

Well, the way the camera table is laid out is by activity. You have things like the following:
  • exterior close - for general walking around in the city (not the spaceship, just Steelport)
  • fine aim - walking around city while holding right mouse button for aiming
  • sprint - while you are running
  • riot shield *
  • human shield *
  • supersprint
  • superjump
  • mech_*
  • dubstep *
... and so on. And if that wasn't enough, the missions have their own entries in a later section of the table. For example, the prologue (opening scene where you fight the terrorists) has several entries starting with M00 *.

Now, say you narrow it down to an activity you want to adjust (like exterior close) here are some of the individual settings (not in order):

  • x_shift - this offsets the position of the character along the horizontal axis (left/right). I set this to zero to center the character; positive numbers move the character to the left; negative numbers to the right.
  • base_fov - this changes how much of the environment you can see on screen.
  • lookat_offset.Y - this offset moved the white dot for aiming above the characters head
  • z_dist - I think this is the one you want to play with to move the character closer/farther away.
And remember, whenever you change anything in this table you have to restart the game to see the results.

For SR3 Please?

Thank you all so much! I really don't like playing with shoulder angle camera. You made my game process enjoyable ;) I customized z_dist and fov to my preference.
