Does 'The Boss' have respect?

Right well, this hits right on target with what I'm uncomfortable about with these games. With such a large array of customization, each persons view of the boss can be quite unique. I don't want my boss to be an idiot, overly silly and ridiculed by "teammates" talking about how others are smarter or more skilled than them. Irrelevant to all this psychopath talk, I don't want my boss to have to take crap from people and go along with it. I don't mind the fact that they casually wreck havoc, and I want my character to be a badass. I prefer the idea of caring for teammates, and being jokeful is nice enough. But in game cutscenes really break apart from what I do with my character in game and how I customize them. Sure it makes sense for others who are trying to make the most hilarious character possible, but I wish there was more freedom here.
It would be a nice idea, making Boss character more editable and unique.
But the Boss is not an idiot. I noticed, more and more that he is a Right-Brained thinker. Most people are left brained thinker (clearly Shaundi and Kinzie are. Pierce is right brained like the Boss, but he is not as smart as the Boss), so they see right brained thinkers like idiots because they can't understand them. Right brained thinking lead more to think 'outside the box', to think in pictures rather than in words, and is what the Boss does (at certain point, the Boss seems comfortable with technology, even if he can't name it). He is a risk-taker and doesn't care of limits and fences they put on him.

Then I would suggest you would like games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age more than this one, as with those games you get more of an opportunity to shape their character than you do in this one. This isn't a criticism of this game, mind you; I'm just pointing out that these games are all different.

I disagree. The SR and SR2 boss was clearly a psychopath who was in it for the same reason that you, the player are- to cause mayhem in the city with little regard for its inhabitants. Kill, steal, and extort to get more for yourself, more cars, more clothes, more money, more fun. That's what every player in a sandbox game does whether or not it fits the player character's assigned personality. The old SR boss was a perfect reflection of how almost everyone approaches a sandbox game. You want to fuck the world up as much as possible and get more cool toys, at least the boss was honest about it.

To be honest none of the crazy stuff started to happen until the boss was half a second away from being killed for absolutely no reason other then to silence a witness. Everything started slow until it got crazy from the boss becoming drunk with power. I can understand the direction they went from SR1 to SR4. I'm just sad we don't have that "gta 3 San Andreas and only the San Andreas part" ganeplay feel I got from the first game. They took a risk and ventured into their own path by abandoning their bread and butter. However by doing so they have opened so many doors that they never could have even thought to be viable had they kept the game a pure GTA clone.

Hopefully with further mod support way later down the road guys like us on the same page could try to recreate an "alternate history" total conversion that takes place just before the saint's became pop stars.

from reading all of this i can say without a doubt, the boss has changed. Everyone has to be desensitized at some point, and with all that the boss has been through, im not surprised in the least
