Fallout 4 was finally announced.
Shenmue 3 was finally announced.
The Last Guardian is no longer dead in the water.
Just Cause became a trilogy.
Doom.
Dishonored got a sequel.
Star Wars Battlefront, Final Fantasy 7 and Mirrors Edge are all getting the remake treatment.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Patriots has been rebranded and reworked into Rainbow Six the Siege.
A new Ghost Recon game has been announced.
The Division has been announced.
The only thing that could break the internet even further is if Valve got up off their throne chair and released HL3, but I digress.
What are your thoughts on all this? Here's a few of mine.
Star Wars Battlefront: One of my favorite games on the PC and PS2. The idea was great, a class based shooter based in the Star Wars universe. So far the new gameplay trailer looks pretty sweet. Lets just hope that EA doesn't drop trou take a massive shit on their consumers for the umpteenth time.
Rainbow Six the Siege: Even though RS: Patriots was sadly gunned down this game seems to take a lot inspiration from the Counter-Strike games. (A global, militarized version of Cops vs Robbers if you will). It also seems to be a lot more lighthearted than Patriots. Hopefully it doesn't stray too far from the RS franchise' famous co-op mechanics.
The Division: The game looks OK. The overall vibe I got from the story trailer was The Purge Anarchy mixed in with some elements from I Am Legend. In the trailer near the end you see a few guys packing flamethrowers, a heavy enemy type? Perhaps a hostile government faction\PMC that started the whole fiasco? Only time will tell. Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like Watch Dogs.
Just Cause 3: Absolutely loved the second game for it basically being a massive cheeky tribute to action movies (and some comics and anime) from the 80's and 90's, which really made it stand out from all the grim-dark, brown and gray dreck at the time. What I'm really looking forward to is the more dense open world and the fact that JC3 took a note out of Red Factions book and introduced fully destructible environments.
Fallout 4: Boston (or the Institute if you prefer) looks absolutely gorgeous and far more lively than the grim dystopia that was DC. Love the new crafting system, and while some people might say that a voiced Wanderer takes away from the immersion I think it actually adds to the immersion. In my opinion it never felt like I was playing the role of say Gordon Freeman in the Half-Life series and more like I'm seeing some sort of recording from the HEV suits head-cam.
