frankly all this gta Vs saints row crap is pissing me off. (this is a bit of a rant...)

yes. they are both open world anarchy games. but thats all they ever have in common. i am getting quite sick and tired of seeing this debate on almost every saints row video i go to.
saints row may have STARTED as a gta clone but with each new iteration the differences grow and grow.
they are wildly different now in terms of gameplay mechanics, style, storytelling, how you get around, how you fight, etc. dont get me wrong, i love both equally. and im pretty sure some volition devs play gta V and some rockstar devs play saints row IV. personally, id love a crossover mod between the two. but lets face it, fans on both sides are argueing about which side is better. i mean, can't we all get along? sorry about this guys. had to get this out of my system with all the fanboys hate one while they wont even try the other. i do plan on getting gta V when its out on pc.
 
I personally love GTAV and think it has improved on almost everything from GTAIV. The open world itself rivals (and even surpasses) that of SR2 Stilwater, and I don't say that lightly.
 
You can rant all you want, but people are still going to make the comparison and trolls are still going to continue using it to start stupid pointless arguments. Because this is the internet, stupid pointless arguments and asinine comments are what it was made for.

meh, i dont have an xbox 360(i never will... i have a bit of a vendetta with microsoft which i wont go into detail). thats why im waiting patiently for gta V. also, sr4 kicks ass. and gta IV kinda had some control issues (namely driving feels like its on ice and having a slow-ass walk if you arent sprinting, things that werent a problem with sr3 and sr4) it just pisses me off people wont give sr4 a chance. they are really missing out dontcha think? also, i really think the best open world map is the state of san andreas from gta san andreas. fucking massive that place is. however, saints row always beats gta in one aspect: customization. but thats probably because volition dont base it in reality like gta does.

and yah, im well aware of that fact.... but i can still express my discontent. :p internet has a little of both good and bad in it.
 
GTAV was crap for me, i waited so long for this game only to watch Trevor do a series of Gruesome and horrific deeds, he annoys me so much to the poing of not wanting to play the damn game at all, i am cool with Frank and Mike, specially Michael who has a very nice story and development, but Trevor is seriously Sick, anyone one out there clapping their hands at Rockstar for this horrible character is seriously in need of a Therapist, what annoys me even further is how some big name Gaming Sites are claiming trevor to be "The Greatest most Developed Character in the history of Gaming", seriously? they just created a brain dead character with no charisma and who constantly rages at everything, WOW... great job indeed Rockstar.

Ill take any Saints Row game over GTA5, heck i rather preffer to play SR4 over to GTAV all thanks to Trevor... just my opinion.
 
The sooner people realize sr and gta are completely different the better; gta fanboys just think if you can steal cars its immediately a gta rip off... not even taking into account sr isnt at all trying to be gta, worst thing is, thier opinion would be easilt justifiable if they even tryed sr but they pass judgement without even considering playing it...

Both games are amazing, gta5 and sr4, just both for completely different reasons

Saints Row started as a GTA Ripoff pretty much... do i need to remind you how Volition tries so hard by claiming they are sooo different to GTA, while at the same time they had to remind us of SR4 when GTAV got Released with the GAT V Pack? in my opinion that was kinda a low and desperate move from Volition, one of my friends even said it was some kind of attempt by Volition to Troll Rockstar, yeah right... like if Rockstar would care.

Now, lately i rather take Volition and Saints Row over Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto because of how much Rockstar ignores and makes fun of the PC Community, Volition has been loyal to PC Gaming and older fans.
 
I don't really worry over the whole SR vs GTA comparison. It happens, but they're very different games by this point.. in fact, very different games than they started with for their own series. The companies have grown too behind them.
I think there's lots of space on the internet to have both.. and yes there IS a lot of copying back and forth. It's good. It means that there's ideas on both that are worth implementing in other games. Everyone always complains that "They stole that from Game Y" but what they also fail to realize is that game Y stole from game X, from W, from right back to A. Innovation doesn't mean you throw out everything and start 100% from scratch. If that was the case, there wouldn't be a thing as a genre. And we wouldn't have any new games, because the very idea of a computer game is copied right from Spacewar and so on. Things are copied, used, improved. The thing that matters is how the game is, not what other games it's like. Sure you compare, but compare to see which does whatever BETTER, not that "Oh they did it first!"

Although, what I DO take offense to is the idea that somehow GTA:V deserves 100% scores. That's just asinine. Or idiots. Or bribery/strongarming. I did laugh at a webcomic on the escapist however.. it fits their review not giving it some perfect score to follow lock-step. My guess is they're not big enough for R* to pressure them, unlike say IGN/Xbox Gamer/PS Gamer/etc.
