I don't think you'll ever *improve* the performance using a wrapper like that, unless I'm mistaken. There's always going to be a little bit of additional rendering time.
Ten years of modding, never has a wrapper like ENB or SweetFX or ReShade ever IMPROVED performance for me. However, there might be something in HiAlgoBoost for you... http://www.hialgo.com/home.html This wrapper was a big hit over on Nexus file site, and in my own testing on a 9800gt and 7800sc, seems to have some benefit for low-end graphics cards. It might be a fine balancing act between adding a wrapper like SweetFX and HiAlgoBoost, but you could have some of both worlds of "better graphics" and "higher performance". Most users over there [Nexus] were trying to balance ENB's drain on resources with HiAlgoBoost and some were getting close to what they deemed acceptable playing and screenshooting experience.
