i liked the simplicity of it...if you hit it at the right time, the animation sped up, therefore you could run through people quickly...otherwise, you'd go slow and just get shot to hell
it was a risk/reward thing.
as for that dude saying he's glad regular punching is back...clearly he never used unarmed, cause regular punching looks exactly the same as it does in SR3...they literally just took something out and didn't add anything in it's spot, from the sounds of it they just made the qte button into another regular punch button, but kept the same animations as the other button.
Have you played Saints Row 2? If you landed 3 punches or kicks combinations you would have a combo in the end, but people would still get up and fight you, and hell, they would do the same thing to you. In Saints Row 3, you land 2 punches and the pedestrian dies right away, or doesn't try do defend himself. You even had fighting styles.
I liked the QTE attacks, I just didn't like that they were insta-win, one press of a key/pull of a trigger and done, even if you flubbed the QTE. They did look cool, but I wish they'd been more like combo finishers, so there was some real fisticuffs first, you know? And if you flubbed the QTE, the enemy wouldn't necessarily be dead.
I loved that idea, I don't know why Volition didn't do that !
