These should help you out, theyr what I read when I started modding textures

Your best bet if you want to just add a pattern is make a seamless pattern by offsetting your image by 50% on vertical then blend center then offset back then do same for horizonal then turn that into custom pattern then overlay it as a seprate layer using some kind of layer bending mode such as 'overlay'
obv for this step above you would need to draw up the pattern to turn into your custom patern then do some brush work on it if you wanted that rough camo look from your image in OP or find a good photo to work from or trace
Also if you need any help using PS like tips for overlays, custom patterns etc just ask iv been using PS for like 7 years now
