Is Saints Row Modding Dead?

This place has seen steadily dwindling activity over the past few months, with almost no new posts or mod updates at all this month (except for mine, because I must be crazy). Now that the SR4 DLC run is over, is this the end? Will we even see an SDK with such little support for modding here?

We need to attract some more users to this site. Hopefully an SDK update (if we get one) will do that. Perhaps Volition could showcase some mods on their website?

I don't think that modding is dead. There just seems to be a "low" atm.

The problem is to get an idea for a mod.
Nearly any idea I could think of was already made or needs the SDK.

No matter how fun the series was, I'm tired of doing playthroughs over and over again. The SDKs were announced almost a year ago but no releases combined with little progress updates over large intervals of time has certainly killed my enthusiasm. And I recon thats the case with many other loyal Volition fans. From what I've seen, modding a game can increase the game's playability by max 2+ years. Anyway, I laud Volition Inc for the decision. But in the meantime, we're all bored to death.

I admit that I've been seldom playing SR4 and scarce around these parts, though the DLC is good for a few playthroughs with your co-op best friends, it does get tiresome after the fourth or fifth time. It probably didn't help matters much that one friend and I went to war with the game on it's release night and had it beat 97% by afternoon the next morning with only one break.

I think the SDK and new/interesting mods (such as Sandbox+/Mission Replay) will bring back some replay-ability and possibly interest overall; Mission-DLC will also do it well. Don't get me wrong, I love Saints Row to death and had fun as all hell in 4 and all the mission-DLC, but there is only so much you can do- and it probably doesn't help matters much that we're in the same environment as we were in 3 but with a new soundtrack, enemies, buildings and some odds and ends.

Just need the next best thing to come out, and that seems to be the SDK.

I tried porting some clothing items back and forth between 3 and 4, to no avail. 4 just immediately crashes, 3 will work, but if you try to load up a save with a character wearing one of the ported items it either buggers up the morph or outright crashes the game.
