Item flags

I'm a modder myself and I'm used to Bethesda's tools. Due to that I'm curious if you guys handle items in the same way with flags and such. I recently posted a thread about hair with hats. I noticed that with most hairstyles if you wear the tophat, there are (from what I've seen so far) two different hair models (female) if you have it equipped. But during my upload I noticed that my original hair showed up instead of the specific hairs made for wearing hats.

With this I ask if there's some sort of item flagging that you use? With the bow tie for example, you have your original hair compared to the top hat. If yes, when the tools are released, will we be able to interact with flagging?

I've also uploaded the picture here to show how it looked to clarify.

If you look at entries for hair in the customization_items.xtbl you will see something like the below. If the hair isn't compatible with hats, too large, too tall or the like, it will have a wear option "Incompatible" that is flagged when a player is wearing a hat, "hat active". A separate wear option, on the same item is created that has a "Required" flag for when a hat is active, and we set a flatter hair style more compatible with hats. Sometimes custom hair is created for when a hat is being worn sometimes it will default to another hair mesh entirely. You can see below the mesh references are changed based on when a hat is being worn and when no hat is worn. There are tons of other required and incompatible flags as well to handle a variety of clothing combinations.

Thank you Meatplowz! This is the info I was looking for. I did successfully manage to alter the flags on one hairstyle within customization_items.xtbl and with that said, I'm glad you guys at Volition is being so helpful and showing me info like this!
Cheers mate! I really appreciate it.
