Keep hairstyle when using hats.

What the title says: I don't want my hairstyle to be changed to a silly ponytail when using a hat, I want to have both long hair and a hat and I was disappointed when I found out it wasn't possible.
I do realize there will be MASSIVE amounts of clipping, but I'm not the type of guy that gets angry because of that, I'll just look for a combination that isn't that bad.

Is there a way to do this?
 
Toying around with the customization_items.xtbl should get the job done. I'm not 100% sure which setting it is that effects it but if i had to guess i would say the "hat active" flag. It's worth poking around with.

Edit: Yup that was the flag. You werent kidding with the clipping though :P



The back of the head is much worse
