Non-steam preorderer here - should I have a key by now?

I preordered an SRIV steam key from http://www.ziip.co.uk/ because it worked out cheaper than even the steam 10% off deal, but I have yet to get any form of key or code or link. They still took my cash on the 1st of the month, though. I sent them a message but I've had no reply yet. Now that I read the preload has begun I'm starting to fret a little.

I don't recall preordering anything since the first Stalker, and that was on Steam. Is this normal? Anyone else order from them, or buy a key from another place? Have you got your key yet?

EDIT: In light of the message below I have sent a query to ZiiP via their contact us link (17.08.13@1558BST). Seems fairly impressive customer service, I must say. I will report on how this develops.

EDIT 2: Received a reply at 18.08.13@1417BST. James at ZiiP seems very forthcoming - he says there's problems with sourcing keys but that he should be able to fulfill all the open preorders. Haven't got it yet but I feel confident that I will.

EDIT 3: Received my key about 12 hours prior to release. Preloaded and ready to go at release time! ZiiP delivered, and gave excellent customer service and a better price than Steam; recommended. I talked to the guy in charge (James, who posted below) via e-mail and he assured me that the things that caused me to doubt the site, like not correctly indicating that I'd bought a key and poor grammar/spelling on the site, would be dealt with.

Yeah, this is also why I'm hesitant to order anything (game related) that's somehow cheaper than the norm, unless it's from sites/stores that are known to be trustworthy.
While I'm not from UK, your story does sound a bit edgy and ziip isn't a name I've come across before.
So I'm in agreement with ShadowGearX in that you may have been scammed.

Hi Mottainai,

I found this post whilst monitoring backlinks to our site. I have had a quick flick through our SRIV pre-orders and I can't see any customer details that relate to your username here. Can you email us with your order details?

For reference, and to address the 2 responses that presumed mistakenly that we are somehow scammers, I would like to say that we are a UK company that is also VAT registered. We've been operating a couple of years from the ground up. We may not be in the dizzy realms of GAME or Amazon - But just because were not a global brand doesn't warrant us being branded as bad in my opinion. That's like saying you wouldn't shop at your local greengrocer or butcher because their name is not Tesco.

With regards Saints Row - and infact any game that is cheaper than Steam... You have to remember that Steam pretty much always operate at a full RRP price. There are various routes to market and we have contacts all over Europe with official and 3rd party distributors as well as directly with publishers and some developers. We work hard to get good deals.

Pre-orders are generally sent out closer to the release date. Steam may have a started to pre-load - but that is their call as it's their system. If you feel happier to have your purchase directly with Steam - contact us and we'll happily provide you with a refund.

Alternatively, I hope this message gives you some reassurance - if you have any other questions, contact us. We have a live chat service, a dedicated support phone number and email support too. Failing that, jump on our community forum and ask on there too.

Kind Regards,

James

Well the intent wasn't to brand you as bad. Based on the users comments, they full well indicate that he could of been scammed. Obviously we are wrong and that is a good thing, hope this gets handled for Mottainai :D

Never intended to call you bad specifically, but to go by your analogy, I would say it's not so much the name of store, it's what the store sells. And also (at least around where I live) the local grocers tend to charge more for their products than the big fish stores. Mostly because of a quality difference, but since a game is (generally) the same wherever you purchase it, that analogy wouldn't fit.

So if you suddenly have some local store selling the exact same product for a price that undercuts even the big fish stores, the "If it sounds too good to be true" habit kicks in with me, because generally big fish stores can and will operate with lower margins because they sell in greater quantities than smaller local stores.

So forgive my assumption, but I hope you understand my reasoning, especially considering the internet is (unfortunately) a hive of less reputable 'entrepreneurs' to put it mildly.

At least now I can put ZiiP on the list of sites that I can trust and pass along to people looking for sharp deals on their gaming needs.
