Npcs including homies on stairs

When I recruit a homie or an npc chases me for something, stairs causes problems. They move perfectly fine until they hit the first step, then they move very slowly but still using the running animation. Also note that they can go down stairs fine, it's moving up that cause the problem. It's not a game breaking bug, but it is pretty annoying at times. I used a clean install so it's not a mod issue. Anyone know about it?

It's been a 'feature' with SR since SR2. SR3 just kept the 'feature'.
Sometimes the homies will follow correctly, some times not. They are almost always baffled by stairs.

No mod can fix this. I've found at times it can be helpful to go back down to help lure them up in some circumstances.
Or maybe a slap to the head, if for no other reason other than NPC hate.

I was going ask about this as well, was wondering if there was anything that I could do.
Someone posted on the official forums a year ago about how it apparently breaks a mission in Gangstas in Space. I'm not that far into the game yet so I don't know if that's true, but the slow motion stair running is really weird.

Hopefully it will be fixed on SR4 if nothing else?

yah, one hopes.

I have been playing SR2 a lot recently , which is much more than I ever played it after acquiring it about a year back on sale.
I have discovered in SR2 the 'bug' of them not following on stairs is not as bad as it often is in SR3. There are some occasions
and areas that have texture issues for whatever reason and they have problems following but not as mentioned so much on stairs.

So it is a bad habit that found its way into the code in SR3 I suppose. Since from what I understand the source code for the pc version
of SR2 is no where to be found, (so they mentioned the other day at that Twitch Volition SR playthru) I suppose they can not back track
where they screwed up on this.

ALso, since SRIV appears to be mostly a somewhat reworked SR3 it could well be the issue still exists. I guess we all get to find out in a few days.
( I say APPEARS simply because I base this off of plenty of pre-release footage gameplay, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck dead reckoning .)

I notice in SR2 though as is with SR3, IF the followers are having issues I can frequently just sort of baby walk them down or across something
when the issues occur. Not always but often. That is unless too much heat is on my tail in which case I flip them off and speed away.
