One of the things that bugs me the most when I do stuff in Steelport, is there is not much depth to the city, it gets boring with its times of day, repetitiveness of architecture around the city(except for few places like downtown), and lack of in door areas being prominent like in Stillwater. Since we might get a decent sdk that might have great tooks for editing world geometry I decided to take advantage of it.
So this thread is just about me wanting to create at least for some of the important buildings in the game (police department, hospital, opposing gangs corporate buildings) indoor areas for them with which the player could explore and mess around in.
My only real experience when creating any mods for a game is with the environment so I thought I might be able to soon do this. I also wanted to see if there was anyone willing to collaborate me on this project since this kinda stuff takes a massive amount of time even for just a few areas.
Update: Ok IdolNinjia has great tastes in buildings. So yeah I checked out the combined buildings and due to their size I don't know how feasible it is to do the whole interior but I was able to figure out specific floors that would be practicable to map and create.
Project O.S.I. : The Mall
To sort this out I'm gonna use some screenshots(might wanna fullscreen your browser there a bit wide....Also I am only using one side of the two buildings(except for the second section) because to do both buildings would leave me to busy to do all the other indoor areas of the city I wanted.
So to get started this first pic shows the grand entrance to the planned mall. I plan to make the first floor the largest since its at the bottom and its logical that way since it has the most volume to stuff those stores, plazas("cough" grand slaughter palooza), and some sexy statue models from the streets.
Alright this next pic is of one of the other two smaller slightly more badass entrances in the mid section dividng both buildings.
Ok, this here is one of the two corner entrances to the mall.(I don't know if I'll actually use these)
Now here is the roof of the main floor of the nice looking side of one of the buildings. I would probably only make this area available to go to since the other areas is just so plain and terrible.
That pretty much covers the first floor so now I'll show you what i plan for the others. So in this next pic is the next most logical area to put a newly mapped floor out. This will be the only floor that will have the indoors mapped out for the other building since I want to be able to go through at least one of these awsome connections.
Here is the next floor I picked. Now on this section I have a problem I problably gonna have to ask volition about in the future because it involves some massive lod glitches. See when your close like this for a while the building has a nice out side balcony section with trees and such with a large part I can make an indoor floor. (Note: People spawn on the balcony !!!)
The Problem is sometimes it does not load the lod in time. Then your stuck in this massive mesh glitch until you dance around a bit and glitch out so the lod can finish loading.
This is the final real floor.
again same problem with the lod load...
For the roof, I don't plan to make this a real floor I'll just have it as a teleport so that it is easy to jump off from.
What do you guys think? (P.S. IdolNinjia has dibs on the Billboard design.)
