Saints Row 4 Announce Teaser

Hmm... I wonder if the time travel part is actually another different VR simulation.

Something I think would be really neat is if they make the campaign branch off into two different gameplay types. One is normal SR3 fare in the real-life Steelport where you try to fight off the aliens invading, while in Dominatrix Steelport, you have access to your superpowers as you gradually upgrade them just like normal abilities, using them as you try to destroy the aliens' computer systems with the help of Kinzie and (from the looks of the official art) Matt Miller. This would provide an explanation for how the superpowers get activated gameplay wise.

and unlike SR3, they could implement the system they hyped up back then where choices made in one part of the campaign would affect other missions in another branch later on. Say you power through the Dominatrix and destroy some critical computer systems; when you do missions in real life Steelport, the aliens' weapons will be less effective or something. It'd also add another touch of Crackdown to the festivities, since that's how the first game's campaign would work; if you killed all of the gangs' subordinates first, you would cripple weapons manufacturing and whatnot, making it easier to kill the gangs' bosses.

My guess is that the aliens themselves are part of the simulation and don't exist in real Steelport and that it's a real person behind all of it.

Well played Idolninja! I have been fairly put off by the alien invaders concept, but that actually makes since.

I'm still worried this will be made primarily of reused assets, and rely heavily on additional DLC to fill out the game. Nothing adds up very well to me. Began as DLC for Saints Row third, New publisher want's quick return on purchase, new publisher known for questionable quality control......Oh, I'll definitely buy it on day one, but......

I was also a bit concerned about those re-cycled SRTT assets but on the other hand though, SR4 will have to battle GTA V soon after its launch. While we all know that SRTT was/felt rushed, I really doubt that both Volition and Deep Silver are going to pick up the gauntlet without any aces up their sleeves. They didn't choose the release date by rolling a dice. All after all, they're great companies that aren't surely up to wasting a greatpotential.

On the side of modding, there is a good chance that this will make our mods pretty easy to adapt to SR4. Similar to porting mods from Fallout 3, to Fallout New Vegas. At the very least it should have an identical layout, just with a few new variables.

If memory serves that August release rumor came about before GTA announced their delay, so it may have already been set in stone. Deep Silver could delay SR4 as well, but if it comes out after GTA, many people may be too busy playing it to get SR. If SR comes out first, they may get buys from people waiting for GTA. I doubt it'll be the same vice versa.

IMO what Deep Silver needs to do is heavily market the superpowers aspect of the game to differentiate it from GTA, otherwise people are still going to see it as a copycat (which it really isn't anymore)

Gearbox is a bunch of hacks. Laziest developer ever! Borderlands is still broken on the PC, Aliens: CM, Duke Nukem......I have no interest in trying Borderlands 2. Back on subject however, Deepsilver has yet to prove themselves. Dead Island is fun, but had some oddly rough edges. Koch/Deepsilver aren't all that far from THQ. Too early to judge, but I'm crossing my fingers. Also, crazy excited for Saints 4.

Flippy made yet another video that is part-correcting mistakes he made in his previous video and part-bitching about reused NPC models again

am I the only one who thinks he's acting like a huge baby now? I enjoyed his SR2/SR3 comparison videos for the most part because I agreed with the points he made (just not in the way that he did, aka trying to be the Angry Video Game Nerd/Nostalgia Critic). Now he's making wild accusations like "the mystery girl in the official art is Lin and they're going to ruin her legacy" and giving people shit for pointing out how many times he complained about the NPC models. And in the end he admits that he's going to buy SR4 anyway, so what is even the point?

Also I should point out that according to the trailer, SR4 will be the conclusion to the "saga", so who's to say that Volition won't do some sort of spinoff that is more in line with SR2's tone while continuing the wackiness in the main series (following around a new character, presumably).
