Save characters on our hd

With the sr3 site going down or maintenance for days without warning, i wanted to ask if is possible to save our characters on hard disk or if exist a mod that can do this.
Also because the 10 character limit is stupid! Why i have to stop only making 10? Using new-created characters is the most important reason that make me play sr3 now (and mods is the second)

I second this. Very useful for backing up all the characters to a folder, specially as I'm now playing on a laptop and don't always have internet access.

in theory it is possable via server emulation. People do the same thing to pokemon games to put their mons on the computer itself instead of the servers. I personally have no idea how to do it but it should just be a matter of redirecting the data back at the pc and have a program collect it.

I spoke with Mini the other day and he confirmed that weapon level upgrade toggles are already completed in addition to the phone book upgrade toggles and fixing homie cooldown. Seriously pumped to get my hands on it.

Well, it's an external save editor, rather than being in-game. Not to say, of course, that it wouldn't be incredibly easy for Volition to implement something like that themselves if they had the inclination.

Strange thing happening, maybe is nothing but i thought sharing will cause no harm aniway:
Today i was cheking my profile on sr3 forums http://www.saintsrow.com/profile/Cazzonero
At the bottom of the page are my latest created-charaters and i used on them the mid-mouse button (in firefox i use it to open a page in another sched) Surprisingly clicking it opened the download window: downloaded a file and opened with text editor but seen incomprehensible lines in it.
This will mean that we can download characters without entering ingame?
Someone wants to investigate?
