several issues with SR4 post-update

Hello everyone, I am currently suffering from a couple of issues which have only appeared after the recent update that included the christmas DLC. the issues are:
1. if I load the game up full-screen or try to go full-screen after the legal screen, the game crashes, I just use windowed mode and borderless as a workaround
2. if I do get past this issue, the game freezes (stops responding) every few seconds and then resumes again, the audio works but the video does not.
neither of these issues occurred prior to the update, I had number 1 with SR3 but fixed it by disabling vsync but that does not work this time. My specs are as follows:
3.2ghz quad core intel core I7 processor
Nvidia Geforce GT545 with 3GB VRAM
8GB DDR3 RAM
Realtek high definition sound card (onboard)
any help is greatly appreciated.
 
A good first step is to remove all mods and see if the problem still exists. This fixes things for 99.99% of people with issues like this. You can quickly and easily remove everything by browsing to your sr4 install folder where the game exe is, and deleting all the files in it (but leave the subfolders!) Then, verify integrity of game cache on Steam. This will redownload ~100Mb of data and is a sure fire way to make sure you are back to the vanilla game.
 
I can assure you that my game is 100% vanilla, I only had the extra cheats mod and the easier activities mod, both of which were easily deletable. one thing I did notice was that the color of the "loading" message was grey instead of the usual purple but that could be a christmas thing for all I know. I did notice that the freezes may be related to raptr being enabled with the game as the first crash seems to happen around the same time as Raptr loading. I shall try disabling it and see if that fixes my issue.
 
UPDATE: it seems like removing Raptr has fixed the lag/lock-ups in SR4, still trying to fix the screen issue but using borderless fixes that.
