SRV Confirmed + New great info!

I hope they won't release a teaser soon. Don't get me wrong, it's just that an announcement of a new game just about one year after the last game's release seems a little rushed.
They should take their time on making a new engine, map and all kinds of new content and not turn the Saints Row series into the CoD of open world games that excretes a 'new' game every year.

Agreed. Teasers just TEASE to much. I remember when SR3 teaser was released, with the ingame footage. (The crotch punch). It was awesome, but the time between that one teaser and the final release WAS SO HELLISH LONG!

I respect your opinion, but in my view I truly prefer the gangster style gameplay of the first two games instead of the route they have taken now. Don't get me wrong the games now are very fun, it's just, to me, there is little to no replay value with them. I mean I must of beat SR1/SR2 over 5 times and for SR:TT and SRIV I've only beaten once and that was that. I know I will purchase the game even if they do something NO-ONE would ever expect, so, until they announce something, or release a trailer, etc. we will just have to play the waiting game, and hope they will give us at least a tease soon.

I dunno. Saints Row: TT, even though the story had gaps in it, was still fun to replay. I still love that mission where you take over the penthouse. You could land on the roof, and just walk around there at first. No one knew who you were. And after you hung around there long enough, you started to shoot. That game just needed more missions like that.

I definitely agree with you with some extent on that one. If Volition feel as if they are ready to rock and they have truly polished up everything and such, that's when they should release the trailer. I felt like the announce trailer for SR:IV came too early and that was one of the first things that turned me off from the game. Anyways, I'm good with anytime, for a trailer, it's just, as long as they feel like they put out the best one they could possibly make because the feel ready.

I loved that one! Mainly because of the fact it literally just teased the shit out of you. The trailer leaves you definitely wanting more which is what a trailer/teaser's job is.

Well you probably won't care about me, but I generally take very little notice of a game that isn't available to me yet. What matters is what it is, not what it may be, some day.

Of course you matter, I take every bit of comment to heart. You have a great point sir, but, unlike you, I try to hype up a game somewhat prior to the release because I feel as if that's what drives me to purchase it, you know? If I just never paid attention to the trailers and such I probably would of never knew what Saints Row is.

I'm glad you folks get enjoyment out of it. I remember participating in the excitement like that. But it's such a way to set up for disappointment... not to mention the stress of waiting for something to be released, with just information trickling in. I'm getting sick of hearing about that Smash Brothers game. As if telling people what one more of, what, 40 characters is going to be is supposed to be a big deal.

I'm a grumpy, old man now. My lawn, etc.

Thank you for compiling and gathering the info on SRV.
Now that Volition has increased it's personnel and expanded their facilities, indicates that they are doing very well positively in revenue in order to make such an investment.
So it would probably be safe to say that for Volition to continue to be profitable it must produce a product that is going to sell.
The best way to insure sales of that product is to produce one that the majority of the people want and is asking for.

Thanks to the good administrators of this website ( saintsrowmods.com ) there is a section here titled "Ask Volition" and there are many registered "[V]" members here that take the time to answer and help us modders ( thanks V ).

In order to return the favor and our thanks to Volition and in order to positively help them in the production of SRV
with our suggestions, ideas and concepts for SRV,
I respectfully request the addition of a subforum section titled "SRV-Let Volition know what you would like"
or something similar so that they can refer to this Saints Row community of over 100,000 members that represent their major target consumer market that can help them and be a part in the production of SRV.

You are right, hyping up a game too much can lead to some major disappointment, for example SR:TT I over-hyped the shit out of that, and don't get me wrong it's a fun game, but I was definitely disappointed with the finally product. So I can hear where you are coming from there are cons of hyping/ counting the seconds 'till a game releases. But, like everything in this world, if there are cons, there are pros! Don't you find that when you hype a game up and literally watch as the time goes by before the release, that that is the thing that gets you pumped and is the reason why it motivates you to go get it? (e.g., like going to a midnight release) For me, personally I love that feeling and although you are correct most of the time it leads you to disappointment, at least you had a good time prior to the release.

What a great way to come together with some great ideas! I hope I'm not the only one still stuck in the past still currently hoping for a gangster-style game. Anyways, I appreciate your input and you are 100% right, the reason they increased their worker numbers is due to the fact that they have generated a sufficient amount of revenue due to their recent installments. I do hope you enjoyed every nit-pick of information I gathered in the two videos posted, by the way!

I'll be the first to admit this is completely off topic and a little weird for a Saints Row forum, but here goes.

If you're looking for some old-fashioned gang gameplay, you might try Sleeping Dogs to tide you over for the next one, if you haven't. It's not a goofy game, though, very serious in tone.

That game gave me so many flashbacks to SR2 Fight Club. Not enough gunplay imo, but lots of dolphin diving onto dinner carts. That stayed fun longer than I expected.
