Rather that take Tornado Sprint or mod the activity, I stepped the difficulty down a notch and was able to Stomp my way to gold.
I didn't record the numbers, but the main difference I noticed was that it seemed to populate the roads with more cars than at the higher difficulty, making it easier to keep the combo counting while using the Sprint>Small Jump>Stomp>Repeat combination described above.
